Happy Birthday Hazel

So I’m clever enough to write neat cookie recipes, but I’m not clever enough to name them.  True story, I’ve only come up with two names on my menu –the Black & Gold and Uncle Joe’s Eggnog. So, when it came to naming my cookies – I did what any new small business owner would do – I hired a professional.  Wait – no – I went to my network and asked one of my former coworkers who did corporate communications. Felicia was one of the bright spots of my corporate life.  We worked together for nearly ten years.  She’s an incredibly talented wordsmith and someone I am proud to call a friend.  Added bonus – she was pregnant and...

March's Cookie of The Month: Short & Stout

Before I was fortunate enough to enjoy collaborations with our friends at Samuel Adams, I did put beer in a cookie just to see if I could.  What is now known as the Short & Stout went through several iterations before it became the cookie it is today! It was more of a cakey cookie rolled in powdered sugar at one point   But now, it's just a nice chocolate stout cookie with white chocolate chips.  So before it goes away for a little bit for summer - it's our item of the month! You can purchase a little St. Patrick's Day Gift for $17.00. We wrap up a dozen of the Short & Stout in it's St. Patrick's Day best and send...

Our New Logo

A little more than a month ago, I applied for a crowdfunding loan in order to get the funding to rebrand as a step to getting into stores.   We raised $5,000 in record time! (Thank you, I'm still taken aback by the kindness of you all!)     Let me explain a little bit about Top Shelf Cookies logo.  In 2011, all I knew about Top Shelf Cookies is that I wanted it to exist.  I wanted a different life than I had.  I thought cookies might be the answer.  There was no market research. I didn't have a font or pms colors.  I just had a wish.  I worked with an artist friend of my sisters and we put...

A Dozen for Denna

Some of you probably know, I'm a big hockey fan. My hockey superstitions involve bringing cookies to my pregame bar. Due to the obligations to my business, I haven't been able to catch a Boston Pride game, however I've been following. On New Year's Eve, Gillette Stadium the Outdoor Women's Classic.  It was a game between the Boston Pride and  Les Canadiennes.  A great day for women's hockey, till Denna Lang was injured and stretchered off the ice.  She suffered a significant spinal injury.   The hockey community is a strong one, players and fans.  Top Shelf Cookies has been fortunate to benefit from the kindness of the hockey community.  People I've never met have bought cookies because they just like the...
